This collaboration aims to integrate CoCoCo’s advanced integration technology with the Impressed Workflow Server (IWS), which is already extensively utilised across various input and output systems in print production.

Achieving such automation necessitates the integration of diverse software applications and machines to facilitate seamless data exchange, process status transmission, and the autonomous initiation of subsequent steps. This level of automation ensures that orders can be processed efficiently with minimal human intervention.

IWS: The Middleware for Seamless Integration
The Impressed Workflow Server (IWS) is a robust tool that automates the PDF workflow in prepress and postpress stages. Acting as a middleware, IWS integrates MIS applications, web shops, and print broker platforms with output systems such as workflow solutions, RIPs, and printing and finishing machines. It serves not only as a data hub but also ensures print files are corrected automatically based on order specifications.
A Significant Leap in Integration
Andreas Aplien, CoCoCo co-founder alongside Karl Ciz and John Maxwell, emphasises the importance of this partnership: “The Impressed Workflow Server already supports a wide range of applications and machines. Our integration with IWS is a major milestone for CoCoCo. Furthermore, IWS will benefit from the new integrations we develop. Currently, we have integrations with Müller Martini, Prinect, Horizon, and Hunkeler, and at Drupa, we showcased our integration with MBO Postpress Solutions.”
Aplien continues, “Our focus is on the seamless transfer of order and production data between applications and machines, creating a central data pool that IWS can leverage. Regardless of the number of systems we support, IWS only needs to interface with our CoCore platform.”
Streamlining Existing Processes
Florian Käsbauer, co-leader of Impressed with Bernd Remus, underscores the importance of integrated processes: “For many printing companies, ‘integration’ can be daunting due to perceived time and financial costs. We simplify this by taking over the integration tasks, allowing companies to focus on automating their existing environments.”

For example, IWS will manage all systems in output and further processing while reporting order statuses to the MIS or web shop for direct customer updates. “Integration is not just about internal optimization; it also positively impacts customer and partner interactions,” says Remus.
